What is Beef Tallow?
Beef tallow is simply rendered beef fat, most often taken from the fat around a cow’s kidneys and loins (called suet before rendering). The fat is slowly melted down, strained to remove impurities, and then solidifies into a smooth, creamy texture when cooled. Traditionally, tallow was used in cooking, soaps, candles, and leather care, and today it’s making a comeback in natural skincare. Because its fatty acid profile is very similar to our skin’s natural oils, tallow is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, and works as a deeply nourishing moisturizer.
Will the ingredients clog my pores?
No. Beef tallow is non-comedogenic, which means it won’t clog pores. Its fatty acid profile is very similar to the natural oils (sebum) our skin produces, so it absorbs easily and works in harmony with your skin rather than sitting on the surface. We only use non-comedogenic ingredients so all of our products can be used by all skin types.
Is it good for all skin types?
Yes! Beef tallow is generally well-tolerated by all skin types because its fatty acid profile is very similar to our skin’s natural oils. This allows it to absorb easily without clogging pores. For dry or mature skin, it delivers deep, lasting moisture; for sensitive or irritated skin, it soothes and supports repair; and for oily or acne-prone skin, its non-comedogenic nature means it hydrates without causing breakouts.
I have really sensitive skin, do you offer unscented products?
Yes! We offer a few products that are completely free of essential oils, making them ideal for sensitive skin. If you ever have questions about the ingredients in our products, don’t hesitate to ask. While some essential oils may not work for everyone, we strive to offer options that suit all skin types.
Where can I purchase your products?
At this time, I’m only selling at local markets and craft shows. You can find out where I’ll be on the events page and calendar. I’m based in Montrose, PA, and I’ve done plenty of local meetups—so feel free to reach out if that works best for you! While I hope to eventually offer online shopping and shipping, balancing a full-time job, farm life, and this side business, so for now, I’m keeping things local.
Are your products cruelty-free?
Yes, our products are 100% cruelty-free. While they are made using beef tallow, which is a natural byproduct of livestock, none of our products are ever tested on animals. We also take care in choosing farms that prioritize the well-being of their animals and provide them with the best possible care.
How do I store my products?
Beef tallow skincare products should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat, like a bathroom cabinet or bedroom shelf. Avoid leaving them in hot or humid areas, as this can cause the product to soften too much. Most tallow-based products do not require refrigeration, but if you live in a very warm climate, storing them in the fridge can help maintain a firmer texture and extend shelf life.
Can your products be used on babies or children?
Yes! Beef tallow is very gentle and closely resembles the natural oils found in human skin, making it safe for babies and children. It’s deeply moisturizing, soothing, and free from harsh chemicals, fragrances, or synthetic additives. As with any skincare product, it’s always a good idea to do a small patch test first to make sure your child’s skin reacts well.
